Phenotype Select™
90 – 100% Recovery
PSR Inc. uses Seedling Morphology Fingerprinting (SMF™ Technology) to select plants close to the recurrent type. Our customers have found (in comparison to molecular markers) PSR selections of the BC1 generation to show 90-100% similarity with the recurrent parent and further selection of mature plant features in the field allows very close recovery in that one generation.
PSR offers two Phenotype Select ™ backcrossing options.
- Send up to 3000 kernels of BC1 seed and PSR will ship to you 15-20 plants close to the recurrent type. Selected plants and the recurrent parent are then shipped (next day) to the desired location for field transplanting. Within two weeks, the selections (4-5 leaf stage-v2) can be transplanted anywhere in the U.S. including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Planting in the field is simple and reliable.
- PSR's Conversion Service - PSR will complete the conversion (in our greenhouses or nursery) from start to finish in just over 2 years, allowing entry and stopping at any backcross stage. Each generation takes only three and a half months. Click here for more info.
