The Seedling Growout® Test
This genetic purity test, unique to PSR, provides for accurate analysis of a
400 kernel corn sample using Seedling Morphology Fingerprinting™. Use of more than 20 multigenic characters expressed in uniform environments provide accurate identification of selfs, outcrosses, and offtypes. Sample size is appropriate to estimate purity of seedlot. Results, which include warm emergence test results, are provided within 14 days.

Non-GMO Test PSR¹s Non-GMO test directly detects the trait in the sample. This method is
less costly and more accommodating to large sample sizes than DNA testing.
PSR's Non-GMO procedure is also less vulnerable to lab contamination than
PCR methods.
Tests can be made for individual traits or for all commercial transgenic
traits in one planting. Spraying seedlings with the chemicals screens GMO
traits such as resistance to Liberty and Roundup. Any survivors are sprayed
a second time to avoid escapes. Tests for the Bt proteins Cry9C, Cry 1Ab, Cry 1F and Cry 3Bb are done on bulked leaf samples, using ELISA lateral flow
strips.
Planting 6000 kernels allows testing of all the traits to the USDA
statistical recommended level used for non-Starlinktm tests (2500K tested per
trait). Results are returned within 20 days.
Non-GMO Seedling Growout® Test
Another approach to GMO testing is to use the Seedling Growout® plants of a
400K or 800K sample. In this case, the outcross plants are tagged and
tested separately for individual or all GMO traits detecting the source of
the GMO contamination. This is perhaps most useful in a seedstock Seedling
Growout® especially if the 800 kernel sample size is utilized. Results are
returned within 20 days.
Warm Emergence Test The Warm Emergence Test is used to evaluate seed quality of corn and soybeans without temperature stress, but with consideration of emergence uniformity. Roughly equivalent to a warm sand test, seedlings are grown in an artificial mix to the 3 leaf stage on a greenhouse bench with minimum of 70 degree F exposure. Percent emergence excludes plants with less than 1 leaf. The emergence rating further describes the uniformity of emergence. Results are returned within 14 days.
Cold Emergence Test
The Cold Emergence Test is identical to the Warm Emergence Test but with 7 days of 50 degree F exposure (extended cold test has two weeks of 50 degree exposure) prior to the warm greenhouse bench environment. Results are returned within 16 days.
Herbicide Resistance Purity Test The Herbicide Resistance Purity Test includes 400 seedlings screened with
the herbicide. PSR's herbicide test meets all trait providers requirements.
Results are returned within 14 days.
BT Purity Test
PSR's BT test meets all trait providers requirements by offering a 30 kernel
and 90 kernel test. The test accurately detects the presence of BT protein
using the ELISA lateral flow strip method. Unique only to PSR, the BT test
may be integrated with the Seedling Growout® to find the source of problems
by detecting selfs and outcross plants. Results are returned within 10
days.
