Seed testing / Genetic purity

Seedling Growout®

Experienced genetic-purity and uniformity evaluation using a meaningful 400-kernel sample.

A specialized genetic purity evaluation that identifies selfs, outcrosses, and off-types in a 400-kernel sample grown under uniform greenhouse conditions. Each report includes genetic uniformity, warm germination, and germination uniformity ratings.

The Seedstock Purity Test uses our proven system to evaluate an 800-kernel sample of inbred seedstocks, helping detect outcross contamination before increase.

More plants. Experienced evaluation. Faster answers.

More than a growout. An experienced assessment of genetic purity and uniformity.

Seedling Growout® evaluates 400 seedlings under uniform greenhouse conditions using a specialized system refined over nearly four decades and millions of seedling observations. In addition to identifying selfs, outcrosses, and off-types, PSR reports genetic uniformity and germination uniformity—providing a more complete picture of the seed lot in 14 days or less.

01

A meaningful sample

The standard 400-kernel sample examines substantially more plants than many smaller testing formats, improving the opportunity to observe low-level contamination.

02

Fast turnaround

Results are reported within 14 days of planting, so decisions do not have to wait for an outdoor growing season.

03

Specialized interpretation

Seedlings are evaluated across multiple inherited characteristics using expertise refined over nearly four decades and millions of observations.

04

Uniformity ratings

Each sample includes an assessment of overall genetic uniformity, together with a warm germination test and an assessment of germination uniformity.

A more complete assessment

Purity, performance, and uniformity in one report.

Seedling Growout® goes beyond identifying recognizable off-types. It provides experienced interpretation of the sample’s genetic consistency while also reporting germination and germination uniformity.

Genetic purityEvaluation for selfs, outcrosses, and other off-types across multiple inherited characteristics.

Genetic uniformityA rating that helps describe the consistency or variability expressed within the hybrid or inbred sample.

Germination uniformityA warm germination result accompanied by an assessment of emergence uniformity.

Timely reportingWithin 14 days.
